What is a Rep Team?
Rep Teams will be fielded in all age divisions above Novice and will compete as "A" (All-Star) or "B" (Developmental) division teams. If there is sufficient numbers, multiple Developmental teams may exist in a division, however there can only be one All-Star team. An All-Star team must exist in a division before a Developmental team can be established.
A rep team may play above 40 games depending on the level of tournament participation. More than half of these games will be away due to the demand for ice time locally. Most of the travel is limited to locations within a days travel and overnight stays are rarely required. Participation in a tournament usually does require one or two nights stay at the tournament location. This is due not only to the distances travelled, but also to the compressed game schedules of most tournaments which make "commuting" an undesirable option. It may also mean an occasional early dismissal from school on a Friday in order to meet a game schedule. Parents should be aware of the financial and time commitment you will be making to your child if they are to participate at this level.
There is a travel fee set to defray the cost on the Association for coaches' expenses at the Provincial tournaments and the extra practice slots given two weeks prior to the tournament. This fee is set annually and will be levied and collected at least one month prior to the Provincial tournament.
